Invitation to the Seminar

Dear students,


CISP, in cooperation with AYWA, the Yerevan State University and the Migration Competence Centre, is pleased to invite you to the Seminar “Migration: Challenges, Evolution, Benefits for Development”, which will take place on November 3, 2014 at 14:30 at the Yerevan State University, Department of Sociology, Room 304, 1 Alek Manukyan St, Yerevan 0025, Armenia.


The purpose of the seminar is to explore and discuss opportunities and strengths related to the human mobility. More specifically, it will look at the potential positive impact of Migration for the Development of the host countries and the countries of origin of migrants through the presentations of the current trends and developments in Ecuador and the outcomes of the recent “Assessment of Migration and Development Policies, Programmes and Projects in Armenia” published by CISP.

A further purpose of the seminar is to contribute with discussions on the management of the migration flows and on the engagement of Diasporas in poverty reduction and economic growth in those country affected by high rates of Migration.


The seminar is framed in the project “Maximising the social and economic impact of Migration for a better future in Armenia” implemented by CISP that is co-funded by the European Union and conducted from 2013 to 2016.

The conference results will be taken forward to shape the further work of the project, and will inform research debates on the engagement of Diaspora as a valuable asset, providing knowledge, skills, experience as well as human and financial resources and links to out-of-country support and assistance.


A high-level expert, Mr. José Galvez will be the keynote speaker, presenting the best practices in Migration and Development implemented in Ecuador, with the CISP consultants, Ms. Elmira Bakhshinyan and Ms. Arpine Porsughyan that will be presenting the outcomes of their recent assessment.
